JOB DESCRIPTION:
Johnstone Supply has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Warehouse Supervisor at our Kennewick,W.A. branch. Under direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, the warehouse lead ensures operational performance goals are met by overseeing daily warehouse tasks, as well as non-counter order fulfillment. This position also includes oversight of day-to-day responsibility for branch inventory control, product delivery, security, and related communications.
*This is an hourly position that works Monday - Friday 7:00-4:00 or 8:00-5:00. Occasional overtime as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises warehouse and transportation employees in the branch.
- Supervises branch personnel responsible for activities such as inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping and receiving, replenishment, and returns.
- Works in conjunction with Branch Manager, to establish performance standards and measures for monitoring logistics productivity and performance.
- Ensures Branch Manager is up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding warehouse operations by continually providing information and status reports.
- Works in conjunction with the Branch Manager to establish standard policies, procedures, and processes to meet performance standards in areas such as order fulfillment, shipping and receiving, returns, product line warehousing locations, transportation utilization.
- Works in conjunction with the branch manager to ensures a capable and efficient staff by participating in the hiring process to obtain the most qualified people, providing training to ensure a high level of competence, coaching and providing feedback to correct or reinforce performance, and making necessary personnel changes
- Assist warehouse personnel consistently maintaining a high standard of operating discipline, housekeeping, and orderliness by defining and communicating expectations.
- Works with branch security by maintaining a functional intrusion system; overseeing staff in minimizing employee theft; and monitoring staff in keeping facilities secured. Responsible for security/fire alarm response at all hours.
- Ensures worker safety as a member of branch Safety Committee, and communicating safety issues to Management and ensuring compliance with company safety rules as well as OSHA, Workers Compensation, and MSDS regulations.
- Ensures all aspects of hazardous materials handling are in compliance with government regulations.
- Oversees branch cycle counting by ensuring that processes and procedures are followed and ongoing inventory counts are maintained consistently and accurately.
- Maintains shipping and receiving schedules and adjusts schedules when needed.
- Works closely with Purchasing to ensure optimum operational efficiency.
- Performs special projects at the request of the Branch Manager
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience with receiving and shipping.
- Experience as a lead in a warehouse environment.
- Good oral and written communication
- PC skills including using outlook, ERP system software
- High level of WMS experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of inbound and outbound warehouse processes with at least 4-5 years experience.
- Qualified to operate a forklift and other power warehouse equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of related lead or supervisory experience
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, transportation, distribution, or similar supply chain role.
- Forklift certification is required within the first 3 months of employment.
- This position must successfully pass a post-offer background and drug test.
- Required to regularly stand for long periods of time, bend, walk, talk in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
