Johnstone Supply is seeking an experienced and results driven Warehouse Manager to join our team. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees 3 warehouse facilities in the Farmingdale complex with a total of 50,000 square feet containing over 30,000 SKU’s.
  • Directly supervise 2 or more Lead Warehouse Associates responsible for coordinating and performing warehouse shipping and receiving functions.
  • Directly supervise several Warehouse Associates and Delivery Drivers performing shipping and receiving duties as assigned.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the company’s central warehouse including receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking orders, customer and branch deliveries, staffing, quality, productivity, safety and facility organization. Oversees branch warehouse operations in coordination with local branch managers.  Job Duties include:

  • Manages all aspects of the warehouse team by: determining labor needs; assignment of staff to positions; hiring, training, and terminating staff; ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are being followed; conducting daily staff meetings and coordinating labor force to handle volume of work; and providing coaching, feedback, or guidance to staff in solving problems.
  • Ensures each individual meets or exceeds established quality, efficiency, and attendance standards by: monitoring daily reports; and reviewing and approving discrepancy reports for types of errors, who is making them, and works with associates to take corrective action.
  • Ensures customers receive product within established timelines by creating daily delivery schedules and routes, ensures all orders are picked and shipped within established shipping schedules, meeting or exceeding quality and accuracy standards. Monitors daily reports; works with leads to take necessary corrective action; and organizes facilities to maximize efficiency and material flow.
  • Ensures that all received merchandise is properly accounted for, inspected for damage, tagged with proper Johnstone part number, and stacked on the shelf within two days of receipt by: monitoring daily reports; working with supervisors to take necessary corrective action; and organizing facilities to maximize efficiency and material flow.
  • Ensures the safety of the workforce by: communicating safety issues to all levels of personnel and management; observing and coaching employees in complying with safety rules; removing safety obstacles; complying with all governmental regulations including OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, Fires, and SDS; ensuring an active and effective Safety Committee is in place; and ensuring all equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner including the training and certifications of employees designated to operate equipment.
  • Consistently maintains a high standard of housekeeping and sanitation levels. This supports safety, accuracy and efficiency; monitors staff in maintenance of the building and all equipment.         
  • Ensures proper lines of communication are firmly in place by: utilizing meetings, person to person contact, an open-door policy, and formal annual employee reviews.
  • Supports the Cycle Counting Program by ensuring that processes and procedures are followed and on-going inventory counts are maintained accurately.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 five years related warehouse experience
  • Additional education (such as an Associate’s Degree) preferred.

Warehouse Environment: Warehouse with racks and bins, most work is performed using forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanner. Climate can be warm or cool depending on the season, but not extremely hot or cold.
